In the summer of 2006 I had an internship placement through an international technical exchange program at the EXIT center; a non-governmental organization in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. My role in the center was to assist in research and produce design strategies for an entrepreneurial incubator project. At the end of the research phase I joined a team to produce interactive literature to promote the project for the local government, financing organizations, and universities to promote the the realization project.
The center was sponsored by European Commission and The Royal Norwegian Embassy with a mission to create a regional mass of technologically orientated entrepreneurs and IT companies that can respond to upcoming demands of the future information / knowledge oriented economy. The goal of this project was to couple the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the regional University with the larger Global IT market. Through this center, potential entrepreneurs where provided an opportunity and the means to create start-up businesses with the necessary resources and guidance provided. EXIT Center Business Incubator is to create a unique place that enables a few enterprises to start their businesses with consulting services, use of equipment and infrastructure, technical, informational, financial and marketing support, all free of charge. The hope is with the help the EXIT Center, the local economy and IT business and improve the city image and image of the whole BiH in the European standards.
